HELLO! My name is Keili.
Sounds like "KAY-lee."
Most people probably know me as a freckled Asian girl who tends to smile a lot. Well, they aren't wrong. I'm half Chinese and half Filipino, born and raised in Southern California. I do my best to always look on the bright side, and when things don't go my way, I see them as growing opportunities. In my experience, this has included falling in love, falling out of love, falling in love again, occasionally not getting cell service, and not being able to reach the top shelf.
I love to go to the beach, ride my bike, and eat tacos. I have always loved fruit and used to give my watermelon rinds to the horses when I would ride as a kid. I love when jeans fit just right or when baggy clothes bring out a new sense of freedom at the end of a long day. I think that fanny packs are one of the smartest inventions ever created. Sunglasses are a must year-round. I wear Chapstick on the daily. The Sprinkler is my go-to dance move. Self-expression is so important. I'm not one to bottle things up. Words are powerful. Words put to music is wonderful. Interweave words and music with visuals, and it's magical. Art helps us relate with one another and sink in the fact that we are all only human. Beauty can be found anywhere. As humans, We are not alone. We inspire each other to keep going. We are flawed, but we are worthy. Of love. Of opportunity. Of being compassionate. The songs that I write are about life journeys. The photos that I capture mark a moment in time. The films that I create tell a story for me, for you, for my family and friends. Even the ones I don't know yet. To connect. To feel. To be empowered. To be kind to ourselves and each another. Thank you for stopping by. xx, |
PRESS BIO
Keili Fernando is an Asian American singer-songwriter based in Orange County, CA. Her mother was a painter, and her father was a camera enthusiast. Visual arts and music were constants in her childhood home. When Keili started writing her own songs on the guitar, it became clear that she had a knack for crafting picturesque lyrics and pairing them with memorable melodies. At 13-years-old, she began playing live shows with her brother, Tree. The sibling duo were regular performers at local coffee shops and community events, including the Orange County and San Diego County Fairs. She was also invited to play an original song at her high school math teacher's wedding.
Keili pursued her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication with a minor in Theatre at UC San Diego. While in college, she continued to play live shows on and off campus. She released her debut EP, "411" in 2017 and produced accompanying music videos with some friends through her digital media production company, KLiF Productions, LLC. Her music videos went on to win awards at independent film festivals, and her EP received radio play in the US and the UK. She completed a tour up and down the California coastline as well as performed on stages in Ireland, the Philippines, The NAMM Show, and Sofar Sounds.
While also staying creative with her other artistic endeavors in photography, film, design, and greenery, Keili is set to release two new original singles this year.
